Q) How do I obtain a police report?
A) Call the Record Department at (314) 822-5873 and advise the clerk
of the complaint / report number. If you do not have this information,
then tell the clerk the date and time of the incident. You can come into
the police department to purchase a copy for $6.00. The normal
processing period for reports is approximately 3-5
business days.

Q) What allows an officer to stop a car?
A) An officer may stop a vehicle for probable cause
concerning a vehicle defect, registration question, or criminal activity, and
traffic violations.
Q) When is Curfew and are there any exceptions Curfew?
A) On Sundays through Thursdays,
curfew hours are
11 p.m. to 6
a.m. On Fridays and Saturdays curfew hours are 12:00 a.m. (midnight) to 6 a.m.
This is for anyone YOUNGER
than 17 years of age. The exceptions are when accompanied by an adult,
returning home from a school function, or returning home from work.

A) The department is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a
week.
Q) If I am a minor, what is the level of alcohol
content in my blood to be arrested for Zero tolerance?
A) Per state law, .02% is the level of alcohol in the
blood system to be arrested under this law.
Q) When is an officer required to give Miranda Rights?
A) When you are in custody and the officer intends to ask you guilt-seeking or
incriminating questions. The officer is not under any requirement to
advise you of your rights per Miranda if arrested for a traffic violation.
Q) How do I file a complaint against someone?
A) You need to contact the court clerk at the Kirkwood
Police Department between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through
Friday to complete a complaint form.

vehicle?
A) An officer may search your vehicle incident to
arrest, based on probable cause that there is contraband or evidence of a
crime in your vehicle, or upon your consent.
