POLICE BEAT:
May 25 to May 31, 2009
On Monday,
05-25-2009, at 7:05 p.m. officers responded to a retail establishment in
the 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road for a shoplifting report.
Officers arrested an adult female after she was found to have concealed
items in her purse and leaving the store without paying for them.
On Tuesday,
05-26-2009, at 11:57 a.m. officers responded to the 900 block of Lanyard
for a report of an attempted stolen auto. The resident reported unknown
person(s) had attempted to steal his vehicle the previous evening but
were unsuccessful. They took golf equipment from the vehicle and left
the area.
On Thursday,
05-28-2009, at 7:54 p.m. police responded to a convenience store in the
11100 block of Manchester for a report of a larceny. The store clerk
reported an unknown adult male took $200.00 in lottery tickets and ran
from the establishment without paying for them. The investigation
continues.
On Thursday,
05-28-2009, at 11:38 p.m. a business in the 10400 block of Manchester
Road reported an adult male had stolen a bottle of liquor and ran from
the business. The suspect was located a several blocks away and was
arrested.
On Friday,
05-29-2009, 3:48 a.m. officers had an adult male pedestrian flee from an
investigative stop in the 300 block of Alsobrook. He was apprehended a
short distance away and was arrested for numerous charges to include
possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest.
On Friday,
05-29-2009, at 3:40 p.m. police arrested an adult female at a retail
store in the 1000 block of South Kirkwood Road after she was discovered
stealing six Nintendo WII games. At 4:26 p.m. a second adult female,
unrelated to the first, was arrested at the same location attempting to
steal clothing from the store.
On Saturday,
05-30-2009, at 12:17 a.m. officers responded to the Farmer's Market, 115
East Argonne, on a report of a group of subjects damaging and stealing a
neon sign from the establishment. Officers located the subjects and
arrested two adult male brothers for several violations to include
property damage and stealing.
On Saturday,
05-30-2009, at 10:05 a.m. a patrol officer discovered a damaged fire
hydrant near the intersection of Briarfarm and Lynkirk. Investigation
revealed an unknown vehicle struck the fire hydrant. The fire hydrant
was taken out of service by the Kirkwood Water Department until it could
be repaired. Anyone with information on the vehicle and/or subjects
responsible is asked to contact the Kirkwood Police Department at
