Approved New Guidelines for Architectural Review Effective Now

 

New architectural guidelines, passed by the City Council, became effective August 1, 2011.  The City's Architectural Review Board will begin to review building plans for all new single-family residences, additions, and accessory structures. This is a change from the past, when only signs, multi-family buildings, and certain commercial projects were subject to review. ARB will offer design suggestions to help residents and builders comply with City guidelines.  The Guidelines and required forms are provided on this Website.  The new ARB guidelines will be administered through Tony Carvalho, the City's building commissioner. Architectural Review Board:

Reviews applications and makes recommendations to the Building Commissioner, Planning & Zoning Commission, and the City Council, depending on the nature of the case and how it was referred. Reviews additions and enlargements of buildings in the B-2 business district (general business. Reviews signs in the B-2 district. Reviews landscaping, lighting, and parking in B-2 zoning district. Reviews landscaping, lighting, and parking in the B-2 zoning district. Ensures architectural scheme or proposed developments and signs are in harmony with the architectural scheme of B-2 zoning district.  A complete membership roster is available with meeting times and contact information.
